|Thomas Francis Brennan, 92, of Hampstead passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.
He was born on March 1, 1921, in Hartford, CT to the late Thomas P. Brennan and Catherine Burns Brennan. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Rehm Brennan.
Tom is survived by his two daughters, Bonnie Pritchett (Bill) of Fredericksburg, VA and Bobbie Brennan of Concord, MA; grandchildren, Chris (Eric), Tammy (Scott) and Laura; two great granddaughters, Chloe and Daphne; a sister, Mary Anderson of Granby, CT; as well as numerous Sullivan cousins.
Tom served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He went on to graduate from the University of Hartford and became Personnel Director of the Fuller Brush Company. Following that he became Vice President and Regional Director of Northeast Utilities. Tom was an active civic leader in Hartford and Wethersfield, CT throughout his life. He ran for Congress in 1960, was president of Hartford Rotary Club, member of the Hartford Junior Chamber of Commerce (Outstanding Young Man of the Year Award), Chairman of The 1954 Greater Hartford Open (ICO) and helped to found this PGA tournament.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church with burial to follow in SeaLawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
